Shobhit Johri: Before exporting vaccines we should’ve referred to what they say in flights, ‘Doosre ki sahayta karne se pehle, apna mask pehne…’

The vaccination drive is still on. The government recently announced free vaccination for people above the age of 18. However, vaccine shortage is a reality. Reacting to the situation, actor Shobit Johri, shares that the government is trying it’s best to get everyone vaccinated. And that open vaccination in the beginning would not have been the correct thing to do and therefore the phase wise process adopted by the government was correct.

“I don’t think it should have been open vaccination from the beginning. Ours is a highly populated country and open vaccination would have created chaos. But yes we cannot even deny that there is a shortage of vaccines. I feel before exporting vaccines we should have referred to what they say in flights, ‘Doosre ki sahayta karne se pehle, apna mask pehne…’ Probably we could have saved more lives that we lost during the second wave… But now the situation is improving, the vaccination drive is in full swing, so we are on a roll,” says the actor, who was seen in the film Bharat and web series Tandav.

Shobhit adds that health is one thing that has taken centre stage in our lives, all thanks to this pandemic. Right eating, exercising and taking care of our own health and that of the near and dear ones have become a necessity.

“Everyone has understood the value of ‘jaan hai toh jahaan hai’. This pandemic has made us realise that we need to in the best of our mental and physical health to deal with such times.  Given the profession I’m in, my health has always been my priority, and now all the more so. Many of us take our health for granted, don’t exercise or follow a healthy diet. Let’s not allow a brutal pandemic to teach us all these simple things. Let’s accept healthy living as a way of life,” he adds.

Reacting to how Covid-19 crisis affected the economy leading to many going jobless, Shobhit says, “I’m not in a position to comment on the economy, but yes I can talk about what I see around myself. Many people lost their jobs and are struggling for regular income. In such a scenario we all should come forward and help each other. We all are sailing in the same boat. But yes I’m sure very soon we will rise again and be the best version of ourselves.”

Himanshu Soni plays the role of Aditya in Aggar Tum Na Hote on Zee TV. Having done shows such as Ram Siya ke Luv Kush, Radha Krishna, Buddha, among others, this is the first time the actor has made a shift from mythological and religious shows to drama. Both the actor and his fans are excited to see him in this new avatar.

“It’s a different experience for me and my fans. The title of the show is unique. It’s not like any other shows and is also relatable to the new generation. I have already started to connect with the show. The title song of the song is relatable as well, and goes with how the story unfolds. I hope the audience will also connect with the song. It’s a love story,” he says.

Sharing details about his character, Aditya, and how much he relates to it, Himanshu adds, “My role in the show is very different and unique. One will get to see all the kinds of emotions that Aditya feels. He doesn’t know what to do and what not to do, he finds his feelings very confusing.

Aggar Tum Na Hote is not like any other love story. In real life, I am totally opposite to the character. I always wanted to do such a part as it’s different from what I did earlier and completely opposite. I am not at all like Aditya, I am very calm in real life.” Himanshu credits producers Jatin Sethi, Mahesh Pandey, and Piyush Gupta for making such an amazing show.

“They all are really good and always on their toes to do things perfectly, have the energy in them to keep the team happy and together. They are also hard working and are enthusiastic about their work, they are simply all-rounders,” he adds. Commenting on the change in content, approach and presentation on television, Himanshu says that these were absolutely necessary.

“Time is changing, so are our audiences. And, TV must keep pace with it to stay in the game. With the advent of OTT, there is a boom of good content. Tv must experiment, and move out of the rut of following the same formula for success. We need to offer the audience something unique to hold their attention. The best thing about the television industry is that we can see different concepts, shoot for different types of roles and the change can be constant.

We have to equip ourselves to cater to all age groups like it was before,” says the actor. Pandemic has changed the way we work and live. “Surprisingly pandemic turned out to be good for me as well. I lost 25 kgs and wanted to do new things professionally. During this free time that I got, I read a lot of books, some of them were on positivity and spent quality time with family,” adds Himanshu.

Playing a father made me realise that I would love to be a father someday: Nishant Malkhani

Nishant Malkhani essayed the role of a father in Beyond Dreams Entertainment’s ongoing show “Rakshabandhan: Rasaal Apne Bhai Ki Dhaal”. Though he had earlier played a dad in “Guddan Tumse Na Ho Payega”, the current show was his first full-fledged role as a father.

Talking about portraying fatherly emotions on-screen, he said, “This is the first time I have done a full-on fatherly role with two little kids, and honestly speaking, I think it was a beautiful experience because I got to explore the fatherly side of myself and I realized how much I love kids and how much I would love to be a father someday. So thanks to ‘Rakshabandhan…’ I have had the realization that I want to be a father someday.”

When the show started he played Umed Pratap Singh, a single father of two kids – Rasaal and Shivraj. Asked if there were any apprehensions about playing a father on-screen, he said, “My character was of course a father to two kids but otherwise he is shown to be a really handsome dude with Rajasthani royal looks.

He was shown like a king with a nice mustache and there are so many scenes where he is fighting like an action hero. He is showing off his body while working out. So of course, he’s a single father but a very attractive, very loving man. And I think overall looks-wise, Umed Pratap Singh was one of the most good-looking characters that I have ever played.”

After Umed’s death, the show takes a leap and Nishant is then seen as Shivraj. He said that he is lucky that he got to explore this concept of playing both son and father on-screen and added, “I never thought this would happen with me because usually most of the time this happens with the female leads of a show.”

He further said, “But like I keep saying, I am always very lucky when it comes to television. I get very male-centric roles in male-centric stories too. So in this show, when I played Umed Pratap Singh and now that I play his son, Shivraj, both characters are the center of the show, the story and the actual male protagonist of the show. So I think it is a wonderful opportunity for me to explore this and show that I can play the father and the son and do a convincing job out of it.”

Nishant has two music videos in the pipeline which will be out soon. He stressed that music videos easily reach a lot of people and said, “The chances of the video going viral is much higher if the song becomes a hit. Also, everybody loves music, everybody loves good songs, so if you get to be part of a super hit song, I think that’ll increase my audience by many folds from what I have currently.

Let’s hope for the best and hope that my songs do well when they come out.”

Designer duo Hetvi Gindra and Tanisha Chhajer are known for their styling work in Bigg Boss. The duo works together and runs a firm named Stylebytaashvi. They have worked with Paras Chhabra in Bigg Boss 13 and since then there is no looking back. In their career they have worked with celebrities like Neha Kakkar, Shefali Jariwala, Akanksha Puri, Dipika Kakkar, Shoaib Ibrahim, Nikki Tamboli, Shakti Arora and Rohan Mehra.

In Bigg Boss 15 the duo have designed for actress Vidhi Pandya. Talking about her journey Hetvi says,”We started our careers as an intern when we were 18. After sometime while studying we started our own firm and the first project we did together was Bigg Boss 13. We styled Paras Chhabra in that season and got great feedback. It’s been 2 years we have been working in this industry as Stylebytaashvi.

We have been doing personal styling, Reality Shows, Tv Shows, Ads, etc.”Speaking about Vidhi she says,”Vidhi is a known actor from Udaan. We met before she entered Bigg Boss house. We have liked how she has played and gave her 100% in tasks. She took a stand for whatever was right and raised a voice when something was wrong.

So Vidhi Personally doesn’t like to get dressed much, she likes simple, subtle and elegant styling. So we kept that in mind and accordingly sent clothes for her. I feel anything she wears she carries it so well that it gets complete by her confidence and doesn’t need any accessories.” How important is the styling part in the Bigg Boss house? “Ofcourse it plays an important role in this reality show as everything here is real. This will show your real personality and how you actually dress up.”

So who is your inspiration in this industry? “Our inspiration is within yourself how we get better each day in our work. But we really admire Tanya Ghavri and Shaleena Nathani.”
