The current selectors will choose the team in the second or third week of October for Team India’s tour of Australia later this year. The four-year term of the three selectors in the Senior Selection Committee is being completed on September 30. It consists of Devang Gandhi, Jatin Paranjpe and Sarandeep Singh. But instead of choosing new selectors in the current situation, BCCI can give them extensions.

According to the news agency, the Board of Cricket Advisory Committee of the three members headed by Madan Lal has not yet been asked for an interview to fill the positions of the three selectors. The source attached to the board said that it is true that the Board has not yet asked the CAC to choose new selectors.

BCCI’s focus on IPL

Currently, the entire focus of BCCI is on IPL. In such a situation, the Board also wants that the present selection committee should be given the responsibility of choosing the team for the tour of Australia at this time.

Chief Selector Prasad also got a 6-month extension.

A source attached to the board further revealed that the tenure of Chief Selectors MSK Prasad and Gagan Khoda also ended in September 2019 itself. But the board also retained them till March this year. In such a situation, if Devang, Jatin and Sarandeep Singh are given extensions, then there is no mistake in this.

All of them have been in the selection committee for a long time and they know about the bench strength. In such a situation, their experience can be useful in choosing a better team. Then why not keep it till the England tour next year.
